Teesmouth - Stronger Shores

Stronger Shores funding will also support the expansion of Tees Rivers Trust’s seagrass nursery system in Hartlepool.

The seagrass seeds and shoots will be carefully looked after under controlled conditions. Funding will also support Tees Rivers Trust's spatting pond at this location. A spatting pond is a big tank with shells in that oyster larvae (spat) can attach to before being transferred to the seabed. This will reduce the risk of the spat not being able to find the shells on their own. There are opportunities to volunteer at Hartlepool Marina to help the team to monitor and support the native oyster nurseries.
