Oyster Monitoring Volunteering Session – Hartlepool Dock
Join Tees Rivers Trust in their upcoming Oyster Monitoring Session taking place at their new Oyster Nursery in Hartlepool Dock, on Thursday 16th May 2024. The Tees Rivers Trust are attempting to reintroduce Native Oysters back to Tees Bay and the surrounding coastline where there was once a large oyster population.
The Green Recovery Challenge Fund provided Tees Rivers Trust with funding to install an additional Native Oyster Nursery in the Hartlepool Dock to see how the oysters survive here in more exposed conditions. The monitoring session is taking place here to help with the work Tees Rivers Trust are doing to reintroduce Native Oysters.
The oyster monitoring facilities for this session are located in PD Ports land. Anyone who would like to attend will have to complete the Hartlepool site induction before attending.
The monitoring session will involve checking the oyster cages for mortality, biodiversity, oyster growth and environmental characteristics.
If you are interested in joining this session, or would like further information about the meeting point, site induction, or what is involved, please contact Henry Short on henry@teesriverstrust.org or 07553270511.
