Sunderland

The Wild Oysters Project hold Oyster Monitoring Sessions at Sunderland Marina. The Wild Oysters Project team monitor oyster nurseries in the Marina for survival rate, growth and the number of other species living among them.

Whether you have a marine background or would simply like to learn more about local habitat restoration and the benefits that oysters can provide for our natural environment, please sign up here or contact joe.harper@groundwork.org.uk with any queries.

Shoresearch

North Sea Wildlife Trusts hold regular citizen science sessions – Shoresearches with survey techniques used by Shoresearch volunteers across the country. Volunteers are trained to identify and record the wildlife on shores across the UK. The data collected helps experts to monitor sea life and better understand the effects of pollution, climate change and invasive species. Shoresearch data has been key to designating many of our Marine Conservation Zones.

If you would like to find out more about these sessions please visit Shoresearch | The Wildlife Trusts and keep a look out for new and upcoming events on the Durham Wildlife Trust website.
