Elsa Sim is the Stronger Shores Delivery Project Officer at South Tyneside Council. Elsa works with Delivery Partners across the North East region to help restore our oceans and precious coastline.

With a combined background in environmental management and landscape architecture, she brings experience in evidence-based planning, combining spatial design with ecological understanding. Elsa has worked across multidisciplinary and multi-stakeholder projects across different contexts, including a planning consultancy, as well as developed a strong focus on communications and community engagement throughout her career. She has facilitated stakeholder workshops, supported governance groups, and led co-design processes.

Her interests have always been on where the land meets the sea at the coast and marine environments, with a relevant piece of work on hybrid solutions as infrastructure for a multi-functional coastal landscape for her Masters dissertation. She is excited to build on this foundation and bring her expertise to Stronger Shores, hoping to strengthen collaboration across partners and engaging communities in tackling coastal challenges. She will support the delivery of Stronger Shores and help ensure that the work that has been poured into the project is going to translate effectively into long-term impact on coastal communities and the natural environment along the North East.
